Commentary
Demand: We measured a 3% rise from the lows
over the last half of 2009. 2010 however is lagging from last
year. Most observers attribute this to historic bad winter
weather. April did little to offset this deficit. The
last 8 months of 2010 will need to be strong to surpass 2009 and
prevent another year of decline for both homes and land.
Supply: Inventories for both homes and land
rose by more than 10% last month. Combined with the poor
demand, any expression of inventories in terms of months of supply
is meaningless at this point.
